MOONACHIE, N.J.- Deian Urso has recently been named president of The Display Connection. Urso is taking over for her father, Richard, who is the CEO and will continue working with the company on a daily basis.

Urso joined the company in 1994 and was trained in all areas, from manufacturing and design through project management and estimating. She then moved into sales/account management.

Urso will continue servicing accounts and will also handle more of the administrative duties that Richard had previously handled as president and owner. “In terms of any corporate function or dealing with the finances, etc., that is now falling into my lap,” she says.

Urso will also be responsible for company growth and new hires, such as in the design and engineering departments. “I’m looking to hire a younger, more forward-thinking staff to continue the creativity flow and keeping our ideas current and fresh,” she says.

Another goal of hers is implementing more sophisticated systems within the project management department to better serve the company’s clients in the inventory management and co-packing areas.

“We serve all levels of custom, full-service P-O-P, from temporary through permanent,” she says. “We’re often merging materials and design elements. We’re going to continue pushing that design envelope to create the most innovative and cost-effective programs for our clients.” The company will also continue to explore relevant new materials and manufacturing processes.

Urso is completing certification with the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), a private organization based in Washington, D.C. WBENC recognizes companies with a woman as the majority shareholder who is involved in the day-to-day activities and corporate decision-making that affects the future growth of the company.

Urso says she believes this certification will foster future growth. “The Fortune 500 companies are taking note and recognizing companies that are truly owned and managed by women and/or minorities. Our current clients are happy to hear it, and we’re hoping it will help us capture more of the market base as the industry gets more competitive.”
